Lynlee's teacher sends out "oops" notes when the kids behaviour has been less than prefect. Usually it has a explanation of what the oops was and that tomorrow they can work extra hard to have a better day. Lynlee is just my little social butterfly and gets an oops note probably ever other day, mostly for talking but here are a few of my favorites:
-crawling on the floor and acting like a dog in the hallway
-standing on the toilet and talking to the girl in next stall
-throwing french fries in the lunch room
-hitting/kicking other kids
-showing her underwear
We have tried to make an appropriate punishment for all these oops, like hitting another kid, she had to write an apology letter, or throwing food, she wasn't allowed to buy her lunch for one week like the cool kids. But yesterday she came home with a note that said she pushed a kid down in the hall. I asked what happened and she is always honest about what happened and went into the this story about the other kid was walking backwards and Lynlee ran up and scared him and he fell down. Billy then asked "why did you scare him," and Lynlee was getting more and more upset and said the typical answer "I don't know." After threatening a time-out she finally yelled, "I was just pretending to be a vampire and he tripped over his feet because I am so scary!"
After she told us that we both started cracking up laughing, what do we do now. I wish there was some kind of parenting instruction book to help us out but we are on our own. So the punishment was yet again something I never thought I would have to say, "Don't act like a vampire and scare kids in your class." Lynlee response "Okay Mommy"
